Article Submission FAQ


Thanks for considering submitting material for publication on the Women of Wisdom® site. Having your work included in our publications and online is a great way to gain exposure to new people and markets.  It can help you sell your information, products, services or other intellectual endeavors (such as workshops, seminars, and the like).  Having your articles appear on our site, can give you greater visibility, credibility and help you build your own promotional lists to maximize your exposure. Be sure to read Article Submission Guidelines for legal and technical information prior to submitting.

Here are the Questions and the answers to those most frequently asked by authors wishing to submit an article for inclusion in our site and our monthly newsletter.

1.      How do I get my articles and information online?

Read the following guidelines and then send your articles via email to heidi@speakingwithspirit.com for review of our editorial staff.

2.      What kind of audience should I write for?

The  – Women of Wisdom® site draws an average of 50,000 visitors each month. The readership and visitors includes Internet newbies, seasoned professionals, and people everywhere in between, visiting the site from around the globe. When considering submitting an article for inclusion on the Women of Wisdom® site or in our newsletter, consider the following:

Women of Wisdom® readers are smart, thinking women (and men) who seek information to help them in their day-to-day lives from running a business to balancing their lives. They're looking for practical, specific information, solutions, and ideas. Women of Wisdom® visitors come from a variety of backgrounds, environments and experiences and want to be able to quickly ascertain whether the material can apply to them.  

3.      Do I have to be a member of the Women of Wisdom® Faculty to submit?

We accept submissions from our faculty members and visitors alike.  However, we do suggest you browse our article database to get a feel for the types of articles we currently have posted as well as to see if there are areas not currently covered which you can address.

4.      How are submission evaluated?

When submitting an article keep in mind the following:

      The subject matter should be of interest to the readers. 

      The subject matter should fit into an existing topic area.  We do however accept suggestions for new topic areas not currently covered and may include if we feel it would be of interest to our readers and visitors. 

      There is a need for the information you have to offer or is it a topic that has not been covered extensively in the existing article database

      your article offers a different slant on a topic already in our database or it supplement current data.

      The article contains a clear introduction, body and conclusion.

      The article is written in a positive manner, is well developed and easy to read and comprehend.

5.      In what format should I submit my articles and supplemental materials?

Your article can be submitted in plain text, as a word document or in PDF format.  We prefer word documents simply because they are easier to post to the site, however, we are willing to review those in other formats. You may submit your articles in any typeface as we will apply our own site specific formatting to the article.  Keep in mind that anything other than plain text may take longer to review and post simply because we receive dozens of submissions weekly which are easier to post. Supplemental materials such as graphs and charts are encouraged as a link back to the origin (not as an attachment).

The article should be submitted via email to heidi@speakingwithspirit.com in the BODY of the email message.  Unless requested by Women of Wisdom®, we will not accept articles submitted as attachments to any email message.  The subject line should say “Article for Women of Wisdom®.”  Also include which suggested topic area your article should be posted to. If the topic area is not suggested we reserve the right to post your submission to the topic area we feel most appropriate.  If we cannot discern from your article which area is most suitable, your article stands a good chance of not being accepted.

5.      How long should the article be?

Most of the articles we post range from 500 to 2,000 words in length.  If your article is more than 2,000 words, consider making it a two-part series and then submit.  If your article is less than 500 words, we may still consider it as a news brief or article brief and use in an issue of our newsletter or as a member “tips.”

6.      What is the timeframe for publishing my article(s)?

If your article is accepted, we will notify you via email and you can expect your article to be posted within 5 days to 3 months. In some cases such as redesign or construction on the website, the time frame could be longer or shorter. If your article is time-critical, please state that in your email message and if the article is relevant to our readers and visitors we will do our best to expedite posting.

8.      Can I submit more than one article?

Yes, however, we prefer you submit them one at a time.

9.      I have free resources which I would like to make available to the readers.  How do I do that? We are happy to feature and promote any items that would be of benefit to our readers, visitors and members such as a free e-book, e-course, tele-class or special report.  Members’ resources however take precedence when considering these types for inclusion. We cannot guarantee any or all items will be accepted. 

10.    Do you pay authors for contributing articles?

No.

11.    Is the criteria the same for submitting articles to the Women of Wisdom® Website as in your other publications?

Yes.

12.    I am new to writing, do you have any resources I can tap into to help me with the process before I submit an article?
