Have You Got a Foxy Mind?
by Kathleen Alexander, Clever Fox

Our underlying values and beliefs drive much of how we operate in life.  Many of these deeply held values are unconscious to us, and were developed from our childhood days, school, peers, experience and even books.  As we evolve through life, we may need to update our values so that they are more in line with who we are today.

Similar to personal values, we have a set of principles at Clever Fox that motivate what we do, how we design our programs and how we interact with the people we work with. We call them "Principles for a Foxy Mind". I would like share these principles with you as you may find them useful.

  1. Think Creatively. Redefining how you think reshapes your world. Problems become opportunities, failure become feedback and exits become and entries to new places.

  2. Replace judging if something is right or wrong and good or bad with "Is it effective or ineffective?"

  3. Innovate how you do things. Never just do something simply because that's the way you have always done it.

  4. Be flexible. Watts Wacker, Jim Taylor & Howard Means summed it up well in THE VISIONARY'S HANDBOOK "No one is less ready for tomorrow than the person who holds the most rigid beliefs about what tomorrow will contain."

  5. Live Playfully. After all, "We don't stop playing when we grow old, we grow old when we stop playing." A healthy dose of chuckles each day keeps internal wrinkles away.

  6. Be curious. It keeps you alive. (We have it from reliable "who-dunnit" sources that ignorance killed the cat!)

  7. Nourish your mind and body with good nutrition, exercise and imagination.

  8. Seek solutions, not excuses. Instead of asking why the glass is half empty, find out how to fill it.

If you find that the above principles will help you think differently and as a result enable you to respond more effectively, take them on board.  After all, a foxy mind is a terrible thing to waste.
